Lecture Title: Highly Integrated Silicon Photonic Subsystems for Real World Applications

Christopher R. Doerr (Fellow, IEEE) received the B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering and the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA. In 2011, he joined Acacia Communications, Holmdel, NJ, USA, where he is currently an Associate Vice President of Advanced Development. He was a pilot with the U.S. Air Force. He was with Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, where he was involved in integrated devices for optical communication. Dr. Doerr is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA). He was a recipient of the OSA Engineering Excellence Award in 2002, the IEEE William Streifer Scientific Achievement Award in 2009, and the Microoptics Conference Award in 2013. He was an Editor-in-Chief of IEEE PHOTONICS TECHNOLOGY LETTERS from 2006 to 2008. He was an Associate Editor for Journal of Lightwave Technology from 2008 to 2011. He became a Bell Labs Fellow in 2011.
